We’re in the process of making some significant changes to the site, and what you’re looking at is just the first small step. It remains a work in progress, so expect a number of substantial changes to follow (not just in the look, but also the content).

A lot of news here at Super Genius Games today.

First, our new product this week is a free expansion to the recent release The Genius Guide to Races of Wind and Wing. This PDF includes new racial options and other materials to flesh out the three nifty aerial races we introduced in Wind and Wing. It’s free, so even if you didn’t buy the original (and it’s never too late!), why not give it a look? It’s available at the Paizo store.

Second, in case you haven’t heard, we have a new voice here at Super Genius Games: Charles Ryan (me!). I’ll be handling communications with the community, which means this here web site, our Twitter feed (@SuperGeniusRPG), and our Facebook page, among other things. I love what the guys here at SGG do, and I go way back with all of them, so I’m really excited to be here. (If you’re at all curious about who the heck I am, you can find all the sordid details at my web site.)

Both Stan! and Owen are going to be guests at the show, making presentations, leading seminars and workshops, and maybe even running a game session or two. P20 Modern Project Now Live!

The P20 Modern Project (name subject to change) from Super Genius Games is dedicated to creating a revised and improved version of core d20 rpg rules, designed to update the Modern SRD rules, and bring many of the innovations pioneered by the Pathfinder RPG into the genre of modern gaming. The head design team intends to take the time to consider every aspect of the game rules prior to beginning the process of writing, and the project allows time and resources to ensure any new rule is thoroughly researched, developed and playtested before becoming part of the final project.

Kneel Before The Master!

Okay, we’re a little late with this bit of news … but last week we released a new base class for use with the Pathfinder RPG … the War Master!

The war master is a class designed to lead others in battle, using (mostly) nonmagical talents to grant combat benefits to friends and followers, place enemies at disadvantages, and use the many arts of war in all aspects of his life. A war master is designed to allow both experienced tacticians and players with no sense of strategy to play a cunning commander able to turn the tide of battle with a quick command, clever stratagem, and strong sword-arm used in just the right way at just the right time.

The war master is a warrior, leader, and strategist. As their name might suggest, typical war masters are first and foremost military commanders, able to both slay foes directly and to aid his allies by suggesting various tactics and maneuvers to maximize their gifts and minimize their weaknesses. But the art of war is far more than the ability to kill and lead killers, and war masters must also learn at least some skills of negotiation, espionage, and organization to dominate all aspects of armed conflict. Similarly, the lessons learned in battle can often be applied in less violent venues, allowing war masters to see how to gain advantage in a wide range of situations.
