• June 16, 2008 |SGG Invites You to a One Night Stand!

Escondido, CA (June 20, 2008) — Super Genius Games (SGG) is proud to announce the release of The Forgotten Tomb of Felgar the Goblin King, the first in their new line One Night Stand adventures suitable for use with any edition of the world's most popular roleplaying game or any other fantasy RPGs. And for a limited time the adventure will be available as a free PDF download.

"It's a classic fantasy adventure," said Stan!, Creative Director of SGG and co-designer of the adventure. "The heroes are searching for a goblin holy site and find much more than they bargained for. The best part is, it's easily adaptable to just about any fantasy RPG, from the old classics to even the newest ones on the market."

The Forgotten Tomb of Felgar the Goblin King, like all One Night Stand adventures, features fully-rendered map tiles that can be assembled into a battle-mat, a collection of standees to represent the various monsters and creatures needed for the action, and an adventure suitable for a single-evening's worth of game play.

"We wanted to participate in the Free RPG Day festivities," said Hyrum Savage, President of SGG and co-designer of the adventure, "and this seemed like the perfect way. The One Night Stand adventures can be used with a wide variety of game systems, and this is a great way to show it. Download the adventure and try it out with your favorite game. We're confident you'll like it so much, you'll come back for our next adventures, too."

For the duration of the coming weekend, The Forgotten Tomb of Felgar the Goblin King will be available in PDF format at RPGNow.com and DriveThruRPG.com as a free download. After that, the price will increase to $6.99. SGG will release more One Night Stand adventures in the near future.

Escondido, CA (June 14, 2008) – Super Genius Games (SGG) proudly announces the upcoming release of its first One Night Stand, a new line of adventures, standees, and full-scale map tiles suitable for use with any edition of the world’s most popular roleplaying game or other fantasy RPGs. Each product in the One Night Stand line will offer a complete package of everything a game group needs for an evening of adventure.

“This publication model fits squarely in the Super Genius philosophy of providing an entire evening's worth of gaming fun in a single, complete, reasonably-priced package,” said Stan!, Creative Director for Super Genius Games and co-designer of the first two One Night Stand products.

Each One Night Stand will feature an original, fully rendered map in both a single-page GM version and full-scale map tiles that can be used as a battle mat at the gaming table.

"We’re working with some of the best cartographer’s in the business to create fun, exciting maps for use in any fantasy roleplaying game, especially those that focus on tactical play using miniatures and maps,” said Hyrum Savage, President of Super Genius Games. “There will be traps, monsters, and lots of cool surprises for GM’s to spring on their players.”

One Night Stand adventures will also contain printable standee figures for all of the creatures and monsters encountered in the scenario. These standees are provided through a partnership with Interactive Design Adventures (IDA), who are the creators of the wildly popular Stand-Ins line of printable standees (visit them online at http://www.idadventures.com).

The first two One Night Stand products will be released in mid-June 2008 with one being available as a free download in honor of the upcoming Free RPG Day. The entire One Night Stand line will be published in PDF format at RPGNow.com and DriveThruRPG.com for the low price of $6.99 each. Additional products will be released on a regular basis so GM’s will always have something available for their games.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Super Genius Games Flocks to the Murder of Crows!

Escondido, CA (May 21, 2008) – Super Genius Games (SGG) proudly announces “Murder of Crows” the first in a line of officially licensed Call of Cthulhu roleplaying adventures for use with the Chaosium, Inc.'s classic game of Lovecraftian horror.

“The adventure is set in 1920’s New England and blends a classic approach to Cthulloid adventure with a modern presentation of game information, making it fun to play and easy to run, perfect for today’s Keeper,” said Stan!, Creative Director for Super Genius Games and author of Murder of Crows.

When the crows of Bethlehem, New Hampshire start attacking people at the height of the tourist season, the investigators are called in to figure out why and uncover who or what is behind it all. Tense investigation combined with disturbing Mythos themes makes Murder of Crows an adventure that's both fun and nerve jangling.

“Murder of Crows is an excellent stand-alone adventure," said Hyrum Savage, President of Super Genius Games. "However, if when you're done, you later play The Doom from Below, the second Call of Cthulhu adventure SGG will release, you'll find a number of plot threads linking the two. Both books will present high-quality, one-night, stand-alone adventures, but Keepers who want to create an over arching storyline will find they have all the necessary tools."

Murder of Crows will be released in August 2008 and will be available in both print and PDF formats (print price $12.00, PDF price TBD). Like all of Super Genius Games releases for Call of Cthulhu, Murder of Crows is a stand-alone product that you can buy in the afternoon and use at the gaming table that night.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Super Genius Games Answers the Call of Cthulhu!

Escondido, CA (April 16, 2008) – Super Genius Games (SGG), and Chaosium, Inc. proudly announce the completion of a deal allowing SGG to begin publishing a new line of official CALL OF CTHULHU™ roleplaying game supplements.

“This is like a Mythos-inspired dream come true,” said Hyrum Savage, co-founder of Super Genius Games. “We’ve been big Call of Cthulhu fans for years, and the chance to actually produce official product for the game is an incredible opportunity.”

"We're delighted to have the Super-Geniuses publishing Call of Cthulhu supplements" says Chaosium propagandist Dustin Wright. "This agreement will result in more gaming opportunities for our players, which is a very good thing."

Super Genius Games will be taking a new approach to Call of Cthulhu publications with an aggressive schedule of low-priced products. Although no release dates have yet been announced, the first product is slated to be on store shelves and available for paid PDF download before the end of Q3 2008, with a price point under $15 (US).

“We believe there are lots of people out there who want to play Call of Cthulhu more often,” said Stan!, Creative Director for Super Genius Games. “But there isn’t the depth of material available that there is for other games. In particular, there aren’t enough easily accessible adventures designed to be played in just a night or two. Being a Keeper for this game is challenging. You can’t just rely on standard tropes of heroic tales or fall back on random encounters—you need to come to the table with something prepared.”

All of Super Genius Games projected releases for Call of Cthulhu will be stand-alone products that you can buy in the afternoon and use at the gaming table that night. But they won’t be just fire-and-forget scenarios.

“If you get more than one of our products, you’ll see connections forming between them,” said Stan!. “There will be metaphorical breadcrumbs leading from one to another and organizations that turn up regularly, getting a bit more detailed each time. But at the same time, each product will stand fully on its own. To get full use out of our products you won’t have to own anything else … except the Call of Cthulhu game.”

Super Genius Games Unleashes “Kaiju”

Escondido, CA (December 28, 2007) – Super Genius Games™ proudly announces the release of Kaiju, a Giant Monster Supplement for Modern d20™ System games. The first product available that brings the power of giant monsters to the modern d20 System gaming table, Kaiju is written by Stan!, whose previous work includes d20 Modern, Modern Player’s Companion, Urban Arcana, and d20 Future.

“I’ve been a huge fan of giant monster movies for as long as I can remember,” said Stan!, who is also the Creative Director for Super Genius Games. “There are a handful of board and video games based on kaiju, but little or nothing for RPGs. And, really, I can understand why—making something that powerful fit within the core modern rules was quite a challenge. But I think it was worth the effort.”

Kaiju contains a brief history of giant monsters in the movies, adventure seeds and advice for ways to fit kaiju into any modern campaign, and all the rules needed to bring these behemoths to life without needing to reconfigure the core modern d20 System rules.

“We’re really thrilled to have Kaiju as the first release from Super Genius Games,” said R. Hyrum Savage, President of Super Genius Games. “It’s a great example of the principles that will inform all our products—innovative products made by people with a deep understanding of how our favorite games work. Our books expand the existing rules rather than tacking on new systems for their own sake.”

The 15-page Kaiju PDF is available for download now from RPGNow.com and DriveThruRPG.com, and further releases in the series are planned.

“You can’t sum up fifty years of monster movies in one PDF,” said Stan! “We’ll be releasing Titanic Weapons, a supplement about the tanks, missiles, and other defenses used against kaiju, very soon. And we plan to put out further supplements on a regular basis.”
