Codex Draconis: Green Menace of the Woodlands

June 10th, 2011 1 Comment

The most fearsome creature in fantasy is now a little easier on the GM

Cunning and honey-tongued, the green dragon schemes with a long view, often taking decades to bring its plots to fruition. They have been known to stalk their prey for days, often leaving a few victims alive to take as slaves or to spread stories of their terror. As dangerous as they are to those who invade their homeland forests, like all dragons, the green dragon is as fearsome to the GM as it is to the heroes, requiring substantial preparation to bring into the game, especially given its broad range of age categories, CRs, and options—unless, of course, the GM has Codex Draconis: Green Menace of the Woodlands.

The Codex Draconis series of products gives you stat blocks, options, and alternatives to add dragons across all age categories and CRs to your game with a minimum of fuss and effort.

June 3rd, 2011 No Comments

Sheep’s clothing: It’s not just for wolves anymore

Werebeasts and shapeshifters—was there ever a more duplicitous and terrifying foe? But while the werewolf and wererat serve their purpose just fine within their favored niches, sometimes we need a little more mystery, a foe better suited to a different environment, or simply a greater threat. Howl at the Moon gives you a wide assortment of creatures that fear silver, from the swamp’s CR 3 werefrog to the ocean’s CR 10 wereorca and finally the monstrous CR 19 therianthropic beast.

Each volume in the Mythic Menagerie series presents a small set of monsters tied to a single theme, but spread over a range of CRs.

Ultimate Options: New Magus Arcana for Pathfinder Ultimate Magic

May 24th, 2011 1 Comment

Swords and sorcery: together again!

Garion. Rand al’Thor. Elric of Melniboné. Even Gandalf, the prototypical adventuring mage, carried the sword Glamdring to good effect. Throughout fantasy, the warrior mage, able to swing swords and cast spells with equal skill, is one of the genre’s most common tropes—but not one that’s easy to implement in most fantasy games. But with the advent of the magus class in Ultimate Magic, the concept is now workable in the Pathfinder roleplaying game.

Ultimate Options: New Magus Arcana presents over 30 new abilities for the magus. With this broad set of new material magi can fight with 2-handed weapons, go sword-and-board with a shield, wield two weapons and still cast spells, or even become a spontaneous spellcaster similar to a sorcerer.

The Ultimate Options series of short products focuses on topics introduced in the Ultimate Magic book for Pathfinder, expanding options for players using that book.

The Genius Guide to The Dragonrider [revised]

May 19th, 2011 No Comments

Here’s something cool for this week: A revised version of one of our earliest Genius Guides: The Genius Guide to The Dragonrider. We’ve updated it with errata and a year’s worth of player feedback on this, one of our most popular titles. And even better: It now comes bundled with files for using this class with the Hero Builder software suite. If you already own this product, you get the revised version for free—check your email for a note from your online retailer. If you don’t already own it—well, there’s never been a better time to check it out!

Take to the skies in this revised edition—with Hero Builder files

From Pern to Pandora, the figure of the dragon-riding hero conjures images of power, freedom, leadership, and a unique bond with powerful ally. The dragonrider is a new core class for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, combat-oriented with minor arcane spellcasting ability, built around having a mystic bond with a true dragon that serves as a steed.

Dragonriders are heroic figures with the power to bond with dragons, gaining lifelong steeds, companions and allies. This bond is more than simply a close friendship, it is a mystic connection between dragonrider and dragon, creating a permanent link fueled by the arcane power inherent to all true dragons. In some realms, dragonriders are lesser nobility, much like knights, while in other they are the ultimate shock cavalry. In still others, they are oddities, individuals who have stumbled into a life-changing relationship. In all instances, they are powerful and respected.

The Genius Guide to The Dragonrider is a revised edition of a previous release, containing updates to the original based on errata and player feedback. It comes bundled with files for using the dragonrider with the Hero Builder software.
